This book is the result of a long journey of research and study by Doctor Ernesto Riva to the whole world of medicinal plants of the Dolomites. The idea of collecting and keeping them dry was born in the late 70’s when, after a few years of running the pharmacy inherited from his father, decided to use his herbal knowledge acquired in a family and university environment. Having the good fortune to practice in a territory extraordinarily rich in medicinal plants in the spontaneous state, decided to deepen its knowledge in the field, to recognize them with the so-called "analytical keys"to photograph them for their complete documentation and finally to collect them and then dry them. This first approach with the world of medicinal plants was in truth a kind of race with nature: nature, in fact, runs more than we imagine, species when you are forced to chase its flowering plants. His exceptional work has allowed to document about 200 specimens of medicinal plants of the Dolomite territory and store them in 5,000 photographs on slides, consulting much of the existing literature on the pharmacological use of the collected plants, also narrated by the ancient herbariums.
